Growing up I always dreaded September. It meant it got darker earlier and that school was starting, two things that completely got in the way of my summer vacation. There was always one saving grace of the start of the month though, and that was of course the MTV Video Music Awards. I'm not entirely sure which year I exactly started watching them, but I was always transfixed by the show, fascinated by MTV's ability to get so many rock stars under one roof. I remember every year always being bigger and better than the last. It was the one night when all the rules were thrown out of the window, and at the risk of sounding completely cliched, you felt that anything could happen. The funny thing was, it didn't really matter who won in hindsight, but more so who had the best performance, or outfit, or who could cause the biggest stir of the evening...

i know i'm tall, but being a drunk buffoon and grinding your elbow into my ribcage is not the way to get in front of me, you flabby, kool-aid haired lesbian. the kills are one of my favorite bands and i didn't sit through two shitty opening acts to have you stumble in at 10:30 with your posse of unfortunate looking slummervillians to ruin the show for the rest of us. guess what horatio sanz, allison mosshart wants absolutely nothing to do with you, so you can stop cat-calling her and shouting out the name of her jack white side-project in between every song. furthermore, it is clear to me when you only start bopping along and pretending to know the words to "cheap and cheerful" halfway through their set, that it's one of their only songs you know, aforementioned lesbian. i'm not trying to pull rank or anything, but everyone else seemed to be there for the band and not to take advantage of the dim lighting to find a make out partner (said partner was no where to be seen when the lights came on.) riddle me this, is it that a lot of douchey people go to shows, or is it i simply always have the luck of standing near them? if you don't want to stand behind 2 tall dudes, get there at doors like we did and stake out your spot in the front. simple as that. i don't care if you're wasted, i don't care if you're short and i really don't care if you have a vagina because i'm really tired of girls that i'm sure would claim themselves to be feminists pulling the gender card when it's to their advantage. regardless, it was an amazing show. they sounded fantastic and both looked amazing. it's now 12:45 and i have a final at 9 which i'm just beginning to study for, but i'm so glad i went. thank you, christopher. you are the best best best best best.

Tomorrow is going to be absolutely dreadful. Maybe that's why I'm still awake at 3 AM listening to the Distillers and trying my best to get into the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Somewhere inside of me there's a responsible college senior who knows he should have done at least some of his homework tonight, but fuck you guys, the Oscars were on. And far be it from me to deprive myself of watching three and a half plus hours of Hollywood circle jerking. I'm really happy that Dustin Lance Black won for Milk. Sean Penn was somewhat of a surprise, but it was well deserved. Finally, Kate Winslet has a little gold man to place on her mantle, and of course Heathus won for TDK, which was well deserved. My favorite winner was Penelope Cruz for Vicky/Cristina Barcelona. I didn't even see the film, but her speech was very heartfelt, and this makes up for her not winning for Volver two years ago. Now onto the important stuff.
Top 5 Women

Finding red carpet photos of the boys is a lot harder. So let's just say Franco, Dustin Lance Black, Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch and Robert Pattinson in no particular order. Honorable mention goes to Dominic Cooper, but let's try and forget that awful musical number with Beyonce.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to write my screenplay about for class this semester. I have a bunch of half ideas, that don't seem to go anywhere. I really want to write a teen comedy. Why can't I just think of one of these:

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. My 4 page treatment is due tomorrow at 6 pm.

So Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer '09 line left much to be desired for me. But to my pleasant surprise, his Fall/Winter '09 that he debuted at Milan Fashion week is out of this world. One word: Steampunk.
Here's a taste:

Bravo, sir.
See the rest here.
In other news, the stache is back:

This cat is leaving in a day and I'm starting to really like him. I'm sorry you got locked out of the apartment the other night, Sadie. I'm glad we became bros, even if it was towards the end.
The other thing that is currently keeping me entertained is the following. Someone please explain the giant Disney characters dancing around Miss Dolly?
